How TesserWatch uses data.
Last updated: May 11, 2026
TesserWatch helps you view and control your Tesla vehicle from your phone and Wear OS watch. This policy explains the data used to provide those features.
Data We Use
When you sign in, TesserWatch uses Tesla authorization data to access your vehicle list, selected vehicle state, and command results. The app uses this data to show status and send commands you request or enable.
TesserWatch may store session records, vehicle identifiers, push notification identifiers, command audit records, in-app feedback messages, vehicle context included with feedback, purchase history for paid tiers, and limited diagnostics needed to operate, secure, and debug the service.
Purchases
Paid Basic and Premium subscriptions are purchased through Google Play. TesserWatch receives the subscription product identifier and purchase token needed to verify the purchase, restore entitlements when you sign in, and keep your paid features active on a new phone or paired watch.
TesserWatch does not receive your full payment card number or bank account details from Google Play.
Owner API Tokens
If you enable Legacy Owner API mode, Owner API tokens are stored locally on your phone and paired watch so commands can be sent without routing those tokens through the TesserWatch backend.
Owner API mode is optional. You can disable it in the phone app, sign out, or remove the app to clear local credentials from that device.
Location and Auto Key
This app collects location data to enable Auto Key, which estimates the distance between your watch and selected vehicle so TesserWatch can unlock and start the car when you have enabled the feature, even when the app is closed or not in use.
When Auto Key is enabled, the watch uses its location and the vehicle location to estimate distance from the car and decide when to unlock or start. Location is used for app functionality and is not used for advertising.
Auto Key is optional, requires Owner API mode, and can be turned off from the phone app.
How Data Is Protected
Network traffic uses HTTPS. Local app tokens are stored with Android encrypted storage where supported. Backend access is limited to the systems needed for authentication, vehicle commands, diagnostics, and push delivery.
Sharing
TesserWatch sends data to Tesla only as needed for sign-in, vehicle status, and vehicle commands that you request or enable. Service providers may process data on our behalf for hosting, push delivery, and app distribution. TesserWatch does not sell personal data.
Delete Account or Data
You can delete your TesserWatch account in the phone app from the signed-in home screen by choosing Delete account and confirming the prompt.
You can also request deletion by email at tesserwatch@gmail.com from the email address associated with your account and include "TesserWatch account deletion" in the subject.
When an account is deleted, we delete account data we control, including Tesla credentials, stored vehicle records, sessions, PIN data, and app entitlements. We may retain a minimal hashed record needed to enforce free-tier usage limits, prevent abuse, comply with payment or legal requirements, and protect service security.
Account deletion does not cancel Google Play subscriptions. You can cancel or manage Basic and Premium subscriptions through Google Play. Deleting your TesserWatch account removes the app-side entitlement records we control, but Google Play may retain purchase and subscription records according to its own policies.
You can also sign out in the phone app to clear local phone credentials, local Owner API tokens, and Tesla browser cookies from that device without deleting your account. If a watch is paired and reachable, sign-out and account deletion also ask the watch to clear its Owner API token.
